It is an accepted fact that Rishi Bhrigu was the first compiler of predictive Astrology. His famous compilation, Bhrigu Samhita, which contains the predictions for thousands of combinations, is popular even today. There is a very interesting story behind Rishi Bhrigu’s involvement with astrology.
The Brahmin community, in spite of their scriptural knowledge, intellect and honesty, were economically deprived, as their duty was to give knowledge and perform the rituals without seeking anything in return. They had to live entirely on the alms given by others. They requested Rishi Bhrigu to find an amicable solution to end their poverty.
Maharishi Bhrigu worshipped Goddess Lakshmi. After a long Tapasya, She ppeared before him and granted his wish. She advised him to create an astrological treatise with the help of which the Brahmin community can predict the past, present and future of people, and this will ward off their poverty.
Bhrigu, with help of Lord Ganesha, compiled the famous Bhrigu Samhita. It consists of several lackhs of horoscopes with different planetary combinations, their results and the remedial measures for prosperity and to ward off the evils. The Brahmin community gratefully learned to interpret it and prospered.
The ‘Bhrigu Samhita’ is reported to be existing even today, though there are a lot of fakes and frauds.
Rishi Bhrigu also wrote the Bhrigu Sutras, which contain several important predictive clues.

| 2011-08-15 | ISBN: 1615305203 | 96 pages | PDF | 50,8 MB
Fathoming the boundlessness of space and the universe, we are immediately filled with curiosity about our own origins and wonder about the objects, life forms, and matter that populate the cosmos. Through the observations and work of astronomers over time, we have slowly been able to reduce the number of unknowns and develop explanations or theories for some of the celestial objects and phenomena we see. This space-traveling survey recounts some of the major discovery milestones in the field of astronomy and examines the tools and techniques currently used by astronomers to study the universe.

Uttara Bhadrapada: Funeral cot Ahirbudhnya a Sea serpent
Enjoy being around water, kundalini symbol, all of the associations with serpents.

Indian astrology is popularly referred to as Vedic astrology. This is not because it is there in the Vedas. There is no mention of astrology in the Vedas. However, it is one of the Vedangas, i.e., limb or branch of Vedas, and dates back to the Vedic period. Several of the Poojas and remedial measures prescribed in the Indian astrology are as per the Vedic system. Hence, it is called Vedic astrology.
The Vedangas are six in number. They are: Siksha or phonetics, Kalpa or ritual, Vyakarana or grammar, Nirukta or etymology, Chhandas or metrics and Jyotishya or astronomy and astrology. These are mentioned in the Upanishads.
It is impossible ascertain the exact time of origin of our astrology. Even the most famous historians differ wildly, from 1200 BC to 2500 BC while trying to fix our Vedic period. A lot of them, especially the westerners, still study India based on the Mahenjadaro and Harappan discoveries, which were discovered in the 1920’s!! Several archeological discoveries of recent times date our culture to 7500 BC, making it the ancient most civilization in the world. Our astrology has details of the horoscopes of Lord Krishna, Lord Rama and many other ancient Indian kings and queens, recorded thousands of years ago. The Bhishma Parva and Udyoga Parva chapters of Mahabharata mention many astrological descriptions and omens just before the Mahabharata war. It also describes a period of draught with several planetary combinations. There is also a very clear reference about two eclipses, a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse occurring, creating a rare 13 day lunar fortnight. Available scientific research data shows that the Mahabharata war must have occurred either in 3129 BC or 2559 BC. According to the Hindu Panchangas, maintained from ages, Kaliyuga era is counted from February 17/18 midnight 3102 BC. Hindu epics like Mahabharata and Ramayana have been written off as myths by the western historians. However the recent discovery of the submerged ancient city Dwaraka, (the site of the legendary city of Lord Krishna, which got submerged in the sea after the death of Lord Krishna), led by Dr. S.R. Rao of the Marine Archaeology Unit of the National Institute of Oceanography of India lends a lot of credence to our mythology. Various texts attribute the origin of Indian astrology to various gods and Rishis. It is futile to ascertain who was the originator. The most popularly followed astrological classics today are the ones written by Rishis like Parashara, Varahamihira, Garga, Jaimini and their followers. People in those days had no satellites or telescopes and yet the planetary positions and their motions recorded by them are as accurate as the planetary positions and degrees recorded today using the space satellites. Our ancient astrologers used their divine intuition to record these planetary movements and their effects on us.
Astrology has a twofold purpose. On one hand it is used as a tool to select the right month the right date and the right time to start various auspicious rites and rituals so that the results are better. On the other hand it is used as a guide to study the destiny of an individual.
Indian astrology is based on the theory of fate. The good and the bad actions of the past life determine your fate or Karma of your present life, and the actions of your present life determine your future Karma. According to Indian astrology a person is born at that place, on that day and on that moment when his individual fate is in perfect mathematical harmony with the progress of the stars in heaven. However it does not preach total dependence on fate. Astrology lets you know what you were born with, what your possibilities are, the limitations, your strong points and your drawbacks. What type of life partners and professions suit you and to expect is also indicated. It also prescribes various remedial measures to ward off the bad effects and to enhance the good results. Astrology is your roadmap of destiny. However your fate is in your hands. The scriptures guide us by telling us what is good and what is bad; what to do and what not to do; how to do and how not to do. You are given a piece of land and the seeds to sow. How much effort to put in to it, what amount of manure and water to add and when how to reap the produce is your job. After that it is you who have to act using your knowledge intelligence, discrimination and experience. Fate is like a game of cards where you cannot help the cards that have been dealt to you but how to play them is in your hands. You may get good cards but if you play badly you will lose and you may get bad cards and still may win if you play carefully. Don’t blame the roadmap if you get drunk, drive badly and have an accident! In the Mahabharata Lord Krishna gave advise to Arjuna and also to Duryodhana. One listened and the other did not!
In the Egyptian, Greek, western and Chinese systems of astrology only the birth chart is cast to give predictions. This is hopelessly inaccurate and insufficient. For example, moon, the fastest moving of the nine planets, remains in one sign fro two and half days. The ascendant, or Lagna, extends for a period of two hours. In these two hours, according to the present birth rate, several thousand people are born in the world with the same birth chart! All of them cannot have the same destiny. Hence their predictions based on this and the monthly transits tends to be inaccurate. They are somewhat accurate about the nature of signs etc., but when it comes to predicting the events in ones life and their timing they are nowhere. You don’t really need an astrologer to tell you that, for example if you are Scorpio sign, you tend to be jealous and possessive! Vedic astrology has a four dimensional approach.
Firstly, we have the divisional chart system, called the Varga system. Based on the planetary degrees at the time of birth, sixteen divisional charts are prepared, by dividing the degrees of the planets. These divisional charts are studied to ascertain the strength and weakness of planets and houses and also to study various aspects of ones life. For example, one-ninth division called Navamsa to study spouse and married life, one-tenth division to study profession, one-seventh for children and so on. The last Varga, called Shodashamsa, is prepared by dividing the planet’s degrees in to one-sixtieth part! Second is the dasa system. Based on ones moons degrees at birth, we calculate the Dasas, or the ruling periods of various planets, which keeps changing during ones life. It is not just one planets dasa but Maha dasa, or main dasa, of a planet, Antardasa, or sub period, of another planet and so on till we arrive at a fifth level dasa to study each day.
Third is the Gochara, or transit of planets. Planets transiting various houses produce various results. But a planet transits a sign for quite some time. For example Saturn transits a sign for two and half years. During this entire period its results cannot be totally good or bad. Vedic astrology further pinpoints its good and bad periods even during its transit in one sign. We have the Asthakavarga and Prastharasthakavarga system, which divides a planets transit in a sign into eight parts and shows which part is good and which part is bad.
Lastly, there is the Prasna Kundali system, or chart cast based on the time of the query. This is studied as an add-on chart to give predictions. The modern scientists do not accept astrology. But it is a known fact that planets do have their effects on us. The doctors of almost all mental asylums accept the fact that during the full moon and the new Moon periods the mental patients behave erratically. The police record the same effects on many criminals. The modern scientists know some of the effects of the ultraviolet rays, gamma rays and beta rays of the planets. But unfortunately they don’t have the divine wisdom of our ancient is to know all the effects fully.

Astrology is a system of divination founded on the notion that the relative positions of celestial bodies are signs of or—more controversially among astrologers—causes of destiny, personality, human affairs, and natural events. The primary astrological bodies are the sun, moon, and planets; although astrology is commonly characterized as "reading the stars", the stars actually play a minor role. The main focus is on the placement of the seven planets relative to each other and to the signs of the zodiac, though the system does allow reference to fixed stars, asteroids, comets, and various mathematical points of interest as well. As a craft, astrology is a combination of basic astronomy, numerology, and mysticism. In its modern form, it is a classic example of pseudoscience.

Although numerology has been around for millenium, its true origins remain a mystery. Thousands of years ago, early civilizations in Egypt and Babylon both recognized the power of numbers. Its quite possible that numerology has been in existence since the human race learned to count.
Numerology is the study of numbers as it relates to aptitudes and character tendencies. Each letter of the alphabet has a numeric value or frequency that relates to it's vibration. The sum of the numbers in your birth date and sum of the value derived from the letters in your name, provide a road map of vibrations.
Numerology expresses a great deal about a person's character, purpose in life, motivations, career, romantic characteristics, luck and talents. Numerology experts use the numbers to determine the best time for major activities in one's life. Numerology has been used for investment forecasting, marriage counselling, travel advice, carrer consulting, and even relocation advice.

The Equinox & Solstice Ceremonies of the Golden Dawn By Pat Zalewski, Chris Zalewski
Publisher: Llew..ellyn Publ.icat.ions 1992 | 163 Pages | ISBN: 0875428991 | PDF | 11 MB
The first chapter in this book covers the astromagnetic theory. Basic astrology and the Golden Dawn version of the map ofthe heavens are discussed, as well as a scientific evaluation of the magnetic theory of the earth's aura. The second chapter covers the various solar myths and legends throughout the ages but mainly concentrates on the Egyptian pantheon, which is to a certain extent the mainstay of Golden Dawn archetypes. The third chapter is the full version of the Equinox ceremony which, to the best of our knowledge, represents the first time in print in this form. The fourth chapter gives the commentary on the Equinox ceremony. The fifth chapter is the Consecration of the Vault ceremony, while the sixth chapter is the commentary on it. The seventh chapter is the Equinox ceremony used by Waite's Holy Order of the Golden Dawn. Although it is dated 1910, I suspect it was in use at least as early as 1903, though I will leave this for the scholars to sort out. This final chapter of Waite's ritual is worth studying for, according to Waite, his concept was based on the Golden Dawn rituals. In spite of what many people say about Waite, he had tremendous knowledge-and an ego to match.

The New Encyclopedia of the Occult By John Michael Greer
Publisher: Lle..wel..lyn Public...ations 2003 | 576 Pages | ISBN: 1567183360 | PDF | 165 MB
In his introduction, Greer states that his book is the first written by an "occult practitioner" who has consulted the scholarly texts that have recently been written about the history of occult traditions. This combination has produced a reference work that is sympathetic to the arcane lore but avoids many of the common errors found in occult literature. The volume arranges its 1,500 entries in alphabetical order. Topics include magic, Tarot, astrology, and other forms of divination; magical orders such as the Golden Dawn; biographies of significant individuals; and spiritual movements such as Wicca, Theosophy, and the modern Pagans. Where appropriate, entries contain see references to other entries and to books found in the extensive bibliography. Illustrations include charts, diagrams, and photographs.
The essays are clearly written and are very informative. The book is useful for the practitioner as well as for the curious because the contents are factual and concise. The author promises that as new information becomes available on topics, he will publish a revised edition to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the volume. This is an important source for libraries to have in their collections to assist anyone seeking information about the many aspects of occult traditions.

GEM STONES
All the religions of the world mention the use of crystals or gemstones for protection, healing and contemplation, and as being a guide through the development of a person's individuality on a spiritual and material plane.
In every world's nation there has been and still exist experts who know the "secret" relationship between humans and stones whether through scientific methods, or through insight and identification with the matter.
The effects and the use of crystals or gemstones are often mentioned in the astrology of the East and the West, and this science connects crystals and gemstones with the influence of planets and stars affecting the whole of living with the spectrum of their radiation.
Determining the appropriate crystal or gemstone through the use of Astrology depends on the position of planets at the moment of birth and if the influence of a certain planet is considered "disturbing", it is recommended that a person wears a certain crystal or gemstone to diminish or neutralise these negative influences.
Astrologers emphasize that since each crystal and gemstone is unique, the precise choice has to be made.
The real value of an expert is the capability to recognise and divide the nature, shape and meaning of the crystal or gemstone from it's emitting vibration and energy; the energy that actually creates this "union" with the person who wears it.
Possible effects range from strong to subtle ones, and every effect affects the psychological as well as physical plane;knowledge of which is familiar to the expert person and could be passed on to you, too.
The birth-stone's effects in individuals
Energy: Stabilizes the energy flow (Chackras) in and around the body.
Magnetism: After the stabilisation of energy, a healthy relationship (polarity) occurs between the body cells.
Psychic Influence: Helps in realising inner peace and stable directed consciousness.
Fitness: Becouse of before mentioned effects, a condition of energy conservation is attained, resulting in increase of physical energy (body warmth).
Protection: If performs a protection from psychic and mental influences.
Health: Helps in maintaining the physical immunity and in neutralising any existing difficulties.
Self-help: Placing your birth-stone on a troubled area, in the contact with the skin, you are performing self-help which can in a short time-span (5-10 min.) neutralise mild pains.
Directions: It is undesirable to let any other person but you touch your birthstone. You can give help to another person only in cases of emergency. It is advised to keep the stone with you at all times. If you are separated from it for longer than 21 days there is a possibility that the stone will change it's vibration, and thereby break it's "contact" with you. In such a case, consult the expert.
Jyotish gems have been prescribed by Vedic Astrologers for many centuries to combat the negative influences of the planets. Each planet has a corresponding gem. In India, the proper method of determining the right gem is to do a lifetime chart for the querent based on birth information. The proper stone is then prescribed. The stone must be worn in a ring or bracelet.
How to wear the stone
To obtain the full benefic effect of stone, wear it while Moon is waxing on the specified day and time. Wearing it in the specified Nakshatra enhances the benefic effects of the stone. Take the stone of a size specified or greater in fractions of 1/4 Ratti rejecting fractions of 3/4 Ratti like 4 - 1/4 Ratti. Get it studded in the specified metal such that it touches the finger from bottom. If you are making a pendant then it should also touch your body.
Before wearing it light lamp and incense stick and meditate on your God. Clean the ring in fresh milk and then Ganga water. Perform pooja and recite the specified mantra 108 times. Then wear the stone in the specified finger of your Left hand. After wearing the ring give alms as specified for that stone.
If you are already wearing a stone then avoid wearing a contradictory stone as per the table below. By wearing the stone as specified here gives more benefic results in much lesser time.

Vaidya Jyotisham or Medical astrology (traditionally known as Iatromathematics) is an ancient medical system that associates various parts of the body, diseases, and drugs as under the influence of the sun, moon, and planets, along with the twelve astrological signs. Each of the astrological signs (along with the sun, moon, and planets) is associated with different parts of the human body. The underlying basis for medical astrology, astrology itself, is considered to be a pseudoscience or superstition as there is no scientific basis for its core beliefs.[1][2][3][4] [5][6][7]
