CAREER ASTROLOGY

Complexity of professions is assuming a more and more bewildering nature. To indicate exact means of livelihood, though the horoscope depends upon blending of the influences of planets, signs and houses and there too it would be very difficult to predict with exactitude.

We may say a man would be an engineer, but whether a civil, mechanical, electrical, mining or textile engineer, will depend upon the planet that has the greatest influence in livelihood. Another question that poses itself is whether a person would have the same source of livelihood throughout his life.

Many persons start their career in service and later do well in their own business. Further, in finding means of livelihood, can we make a distinction between salary and pension? Many retired servants enter business but most of them either enter private service or live on pension and savings or rent on buildings they own or have built. It is very difficult to analyses all factors carefully and predicts the tendencies governing one’s livelihood. Like any other sciences, astrology too has its own limitations. We have to realize it and it is the duty of those deeply interested in the science to increase its utility to society by earnest research and selfless efforts.

In the matter of astrologically judging and determining different mundane houses are allotted to the different needs of Kalapurusha or the individual. There is one house for wealth, another for patrimony, the other for income, etc. There is one house; Karma viz. the 10th (midheaven) Karma is very broad term. Karma means the sum total of the good and bad deeds at our credit when we are born on this planet. Livelihood or avocation is only one facet of the term karma. Karma is not merely avocation but is a comprehensive term.

The twelve houses indicate different activities in the world. A professional means of earning a livelihood may be determined by the houses and planets which are prominent in a horoscope. If the 1st is strong, the native will earn by his personal efforts. If the 2nd is strong articles of food or speech would play a prominent part. The 3rd determines courage, brothers, heroic valour, communication, writing, short travel, etc. If the 3rd is strong and has connected with the 10th, the person may earn through writings and short travel. He may run a big business, may serve in army. If the 10th lord is connected with the 4th house and indications are strong, the person may get income from house or motor vehicle. The 5th has reference to learning, counsel, speculation, and games of chance. The harmonious dispositions of the 10th and the 5th indicate earnings through above means. The 6th represents sickness or diseases, if the 6th houses is connected to the 10th and the horoscope indicates medical studies the person may be a doctor by profession.

When the 8th and the 10th lords are connected the person may earn through foreign business or from property got through legacy. The 9th indications would be connected with the foreigners’ foreign lands, law, religion etc. The connected between the 9th and the 10th may bring earnings through practice of law or the person may become religious head or may earn through teaching or preaching.

The profession or occupation of a native is generally judged from the planet or planets occupying the 10th house and if there should be none there, from those in the 1st and also from those aspecting the Sun and the Moon.

Brihat Jataka. Adh. X. XL. 4, states the gain of money from livelihood should be ascertained from the strong benefic planets occupying the Ascendant.

Vedic Astrology has been around since ancient times. Its isn’t just blind faith that belivers of astrology have, it is rather a science of stars and their relationships with in the solar system, popularly known as sidereal zodiac. In this astrology we consider even the Sun and Moon as planets and observations are based on geo-centric, considering the earth as the center of the universe. Vedic astrology aim at assessing the up and downs in a persons life and provides remedy to unfavorable times.

The Vedic astrology has 12 zodiac signs, 7 planets and two lunar nodes. Each of the seven planets rules two signs except the sun and moon rule a single sign. The lunar nodes namely Rahu and Ketu are accorded equal importance in a natal chart as any of the planets, except that they don’t rule any sign. Vedic astrology excludes planets Pluto, Neptune and Uranus for the reason that they too far away from the earth. Here is the break down on the signs, also known as Rashi rulership.

Tantrasa graha, composed by the renowned Kerala astronomer N laka tha Somayaji (c. 1444 1545 CE) ranks along with ryabhat ya of ryabhata and Siddh nta iromani of Bh skar c rya as one of the major works that significantly influenced further work on astronomy in India. One of the distinguishing features of this text is the introduction of a major revision of the traditional planetary models which includes a unified theory of planetary latitudes and a better formulation of the equation of centre for the interior planets (Mercury and Venus) than was previously available.Several important innovations in mathematical technique are also to be found in Tantrasa graha, especially related to the computation of accurate sine tables, the use of series for evaluating the sine and cosine functions, and a systematic treatment of the problems related to the diurnal motion of the celestial objects. The spherical trigonometry relations presented in the text applied to a variety of problems such as the computation eclipses, elevation of the moon 's cusps and so forth are also exact. In preparing the translation and explanatory notes, the authors have used authentic Sanskrit editions of Tantrasa graha by Suranad Kunjan Pillai and K V Sarma. The text consists of eight chapters mean londitudes, true longitues, gnomonic shadow, lunar eclipse, solar eclipse, vyat p ta, reduction to observation and elevation of the moon 's cusps and 432 verses. All the verses have been translated into English and are supplemented with detailed explanations including all mathematical relations, figures and tables using modern mathematical notation. This edition of Tantrasa graha will appeal to historians of astronomy as well as those who are keen to know about the actual computational procedures employed in Indian astronomy. It is a self-contained text with several appendices included, enabling the reader to comprehend the subject matter without the need for further research.

Mangal / Kuja (Mars)

What is Role of Mangal / Kuja (Mars) in Astrology

Mangal is known as Angar also. In South India it is called Kuja. 'Kuja' means 'burning coal'. Mangal is called 'Bhumi Putra also. In Planetary Cabinet Mars is in the role of commandar. It is protector. It represents human charecteristics which are controlled or formed by fiery elements or emotions e.g. courage, valor, strength, heroism, bravery, victory, will power, firmness, impulsiveness, initiative, straight forwardness, burning desire, ambition, sexual desire, passion, determination, will to act, discipline, motivation, initiation etc. If we consider on these attributes of Mars, instantly we'll understand the role of Mars of life. But these are charecteristics of pure Mars. In horoscope these attributes are modified by several factors including Rashi. Due to accidental position also it gets modified and loses its natural attributes. In bad condition, it becomes negative its immense energy makes native notorious.

Mangalik Kuja Dosha in the Birth Chart

Mangalik Dosha is formed when Mars finds placement in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, 12th house from the lagna (ascendant ), Chandra lagna (moon sign) and Karaka position in the Birth Chart and Navmansha chart also. The highest degree of this Manglik dosh is formed when mars is placed in ascendant or the seventh house. These two placements form two most severe manglik dosh out of which placement in seventh is the most severe of all. Next in severity in decreasing order come the mars in eighth house, then forth and then twelfth house. In addition to mars, Sun, Saturn, Rahu and ketu’s placement in the houses mentioned above also forms partial Mangal dosha.

General Result of Mars in 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, 12th house

1st house - Short temperament, quarrelsome on even minor issues and dominating in relationship.
2nd house - harsh tone in speech.
4th house - Fiery emotion, which may tell upon domestic happiness.
7th house - Discord with spouse, differences with family members.
8th house - Less marital happiness and longevity of spouse.
12th - Ill health of spouse, financial losses, many enemies and repressed anger.

Why Mars causes this Dosh in 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, 12th house

Mars is considered the most malific planet as far as marriage of a person is considered. Mars is a fierce planet and its placement in certain houses results in Mangalik dosha. Marriage is considered as one of the most auspicious ceremony. In hindi the word Manglik denotes auspiciousness. Hence a manglik dosha makes the even inauspicious or causes problems in this event.

Effect of Mars on Marriage and Marital Life

Delay in getting married, Difficulties in marital life, Continuous fight between couple, Divorce, Death of the spouse etc.

Cancellation / Exceptions to Manglik dosh

Mars dosha is understood canceled in some particular conditions shown below:

When Mars is in its own sign Aries, exalted Cancer or in the houses owned by planets considered to be his friends like, Sun, Moon, Jupiter.

If Mars is in the 2nd house, but in the signs of Mercury i.e. Gemini & Virgo.

If Mars is in the 4th house, but in Aries.

If Mars is in the 7th house, but in exalted in Capricorn or debilitated in Cancer.

If Mars is in the 8th house, but in Pisces.

If Mars is in the 12th house, but in Venus Sign Taurus & Libra.

For Cancer and Leo Ascendants, Mars is a yoga Karkataka and so no dosha occurs wherever it is placed.

For Aquarius Ascendant, if Mars is in the 4th or 8th house.

If benefic Jupiter or Venus occupies the ascendant.

If Mars is in conjunction or aspected by Jorupiter, Moon.

If Mars is in conjunction or aspected by Sun, Mercury, Saturn or Rahu.

Mars Dosha is considerably reduced, if Saturn aspects the houses owned by Mars, but subject to the other planetary positions in the natal chart. Remember that even if a person has severe Mars Dosha, after the age of 28, the effects of Kuja Dosha are reduced.

If a woman with the widowhood yoga marries a man with a similar yoga of loss of spouse, then such yoga will get cancelled.

Kuja Dosha is canceled, if both the girl and the boy have Kuja Dosha.

Sadhe Saati of Saturn

Sadhe Saati of Saturn.

What is Shani Sade Sati

Transit of Saturn over 12th, 1st, and 2nd house with respect to the moon position in the horoscope is known as Saade sati. Saturn completes its transit in zodiac in 30 years. So in one sign it takes 2 ½ years to transit and in three signs it takes period of 7 ½ years. This period is known as Saade Sati in Vedic Astrology. During sade sati phase, native feels generally problems related to health, mental peace and finance. Generally, a person experiences saadhe Saati Phase thrice in his lifetime. In first round of Sade-Sati, it effects on education, grand parents. In second round Sade-Sati phase influences on profession, finance, family & parents. The last one affects health than anything else.

"Sade-Sati" is not always bad result giving period. It could be a period of great success also in some conditions. Sadhe Saati should be studies as follows:

Rashi & Nakshatra of the Moon : Check Rashi and Nakshatra of Moon. If Chandresha is Saturn or Janma Nakshatresh is Saturn then Sadhe Sati is not much disturbing. A Moon that is natally familiar with the ways of Saturn is not disturbed too badly due to the transit of Saturn during Sadhe-sati!

Nakshatra and Nakhatresha of transiting Saturn : During the period of Sade Sati it is worthy to see the Nakshatra and Nakshatresha of Saturn in transit. In transit, if Saturn is transiting in such a Nakshatra whose Lord is friendly to Saturn then Saturn will give good result. If Nakshatra Lord is not friendly but it is functional benefic then also negativity of Saturn transit will be modified.

Ashtakavarga : As per Ashtakavarga Sade Sati result is assessed beautifully.

Sarvashtakavarga : In this method the entire 7 ½ year period is divided into 3 nearly equal periods. If the 12th, 1st and 2nd and houses from the Moon all have high benefic bindus (above 28) then the entire period of 7 ½ years goes well. If one house has 28 below points then when Saturn will transit that house, the period of 2 ½ years will give undesirable experience. In short, the more points, the better result, the lesser points, the worse result.

Bhinnashtakavarga of Saturn: Bhinnashtakavarga of Saturn gives fair idea of good or worse result of sade sati. The sign having four or more bindus in Saturn's Bhinnashtakavarga will provide good result during Sadhe-sati. If the three relevant signs have more than 4 points for example 6, 7 or 8 bindus, the Sadhe-sati can be very good.

Bhinnashtakavarga of the Moon : Likewise, Bhinnashtakavarga of Moon also should be seen.

Bindu by Saturn for the Moon : In the Moon's Bhinnashtakavarga and Prastarachakra, if in the relevant signs Saturn contributes a bindu then Saturn will not be inimical to the Moon and experience during Sadhe-sati period will not be bad.

Sadhe Saati analysis on Kakshya level: Astrologer attempts to weigh the Sadhe Sati result minutely on considering Saturn transit in Kakshya (3 degre 45 minute). In the period of 7 ½ years Saturn transits 3 x 8 = 24 kakshyas. Prastarachakras of Saturn and moon are checked to see whether Kakshya lord has contributed a bindu in the relevant sign or not. If there is point, Saturn transiting period in that Kakshya will be good. Presence of a bindu in the relevant kakshya is indicative of good time.

Transit of other major planets: During the period seven-and-a-half years, transit of other planets particularly slow-moving planets, must be seen. If Jupiter's (or Rahu's and Ketu's) transit results are favourable, Sadhe-sati can't be too adverse.

Dasha-Bhukti: Astrologer must not be oblivious about Dasha Period. If the dasha is good, Sadhe-sati can't be too bad. If the dasha and Sadhe-sati both are bad then only the full force of evil Sadhe-sati is felt. If both are good then Sadhe-sati is a period to look forward to.

Besides above, Moon’s position must be seen in the natal chart. If moon is in Dusthan (6, 8 & 12), Sadhe Saati effect will be worse. If moon is well placed and bereft of malefic influence, native experiences comparatively better results.

Further, if Saturn is yogkaraka in the chart, its sadhe sati or dhaiya will not be so bad even result will be nice, if things are ideally favourable. Simultaneously, Tattwa of Ascendant also be seen. If it belongs to Fiery signs -Aries, Leo or Sagittarius, the Sadhe-sati will be adverse. The reason for this is that only for Fiery rashis, neither Saturn nor the Moon are trikona lords. When either of them is a trikona lord, Sadhe-sati does not deliver very bad results.

What is Daiyya of Shani

When Saturn Transits over the 4th and 8th house from the natal Moon, it is known Dhaiyya. Dhaiyyaa is a period of 2.5 years. Dhaiya also causes stressful periods. When Saturn transits in the 4th house from the Moon, he aspects the natal Moon house position including 6th and the 10th house from the Moon. During this period, native may face anxiety, house problem, problem in job & profession life may be struggleful if Saturn is not favourable in the chart.

Saturn’s transit over 8th house from Moon is known as Ashtama-Shani. In this case, it again aspects the 10th house including 2nd and 5th from the Moon. During this period, native may face accident, danger to life, divorce, loss of wealth of souse and self, serious health problem to mother, loss in share market, speculation, lottery, problem in, divorces etc if Saturn is ideally placed in the chart.

Mantra(Source:microastrology)

In Vedic Scripture Mantra has been defined as 'Mananat trayate iti mantrah'. That is, repetition & contemplation (mananat) of which, one overcomes or get protected from bondage, troubles, cycles of birth, death etc (trayate) is (iti) called Mantra. In Tantra system, Mantra (Pimkhalamata) has been defined as “Mananam Vishwa vigyanam Tranam Samsar bandhanat Yatah Karoti Samsiddhi Mantra Ityuchyate tah”. Contemplation on universal knowledge liberates from Samsarik bandages and thus physical & spiritual Siddhis are achieved, it is the Manta. Mantras have been introduced to human by our Seers (Rishis) who were Drashta. In their deep meditation, they became acquainted with the vibration of mantas. They noticed that everything in the universe has a particular sound vibration, which can be heard in meditative states. Further also, they understood the form of sound vibrations and their role in cosmic mechanism.

A Mantra is a sound formula, and divine syllables which when repeated sincerely for enough times with the right intonation, devotional feeling and concentration of mind, the latent power in that particular mantra gets invoked and brings change in the vibrations on the astral body, neutralizes or transforms the negative effects of bad karmas of past indicated by the adverse planetary influences in the horoscope.

Mantras are divine sound formula transferred by Rishis to their disciples for producing spiritual vibrations and achieving spiritual purposes. They instructed how to chant mantras so that desirable vibration can be produced and get aligned with the vibration of higher self. Our Rishis had experienced that repetition of different Mantras for different number of times produce ample vibrations required for the purpose and alignment with particular kind of vibration.

When a Mantra is repeated in prescribed way with adoration and centered mind, desired vibrations produce and start working on respective chakras and nadis. These vibrations communicate to etheric double body through chakra. Etheric double communicates with Etheric body which also transcends these vibrations to astral body wherein karmic codes are operating. So, vibrations created by mantras ultimately communicate with karmic code and soul.

On repetition of mantras for prescribed number of times, the vibrations present in Karmic code begin to get affected. This is the very secret of functioning of Mantras. Therefore, repetition of Mantra is the way to modify the vibration present in our astral body. This is the reason why it has been said that Mantra chanting is a powerful tool to transform or neutralize negative vibration (caused by our bad deeds in past) present in and around the astral body.

Our Past deeds create a particular type of sound, color and energy pattern in astral body and mind. These patterns, more or less, are the patterns present in Karmic Code. As per the patterns of karmic code, in our life we attract events and situations of similar vibratory pattern. It is so because, likewise energy attracts likewise energy.

In astrology, there is methodology to identify the patterns of karmic code. Planet, Nakshatra, Rashi, Cusp, Bhava etc are factors employed to assess the pattern of destiny. In astrology, whether it is Sign, Star, Cusp or Bhava, each finds its expression through Planet. Planet is key of astrology. Each Planet has certain kind of vibration and energy. Sign, Star, Cusp, Bhava etc modify the planet it’s nature and behavior. So in a horoscope, sincere study of planetary nature and its behavioural aspects are of great importance. It is the way or tool for an astrologer to find out the pattern of energy level and vibration in the microcosm of an individual. Once energy pattern of destiny is diagnosed, the astrologer suggests mantra for chanting so that individual can create likewise vibration to get aligned with pattern of energy content of destiny. Likewise, if negative energy pattern is found to be working on microcosmic level, the native is suggested to chant mantra for certain number of times to modify the negative energy pattern. If we understand ourselves, we will understand our power. This power is capable to alter the predetermined events.

Yajna and Puja

Yagya and Puja are traditional forms of Vedic worship to specific Deities or planets. his method of astrological remedy is emphasized on the classical Jyotish scriptures. God is the ultimate controller of the planets and dispenser of karma, and everything is possible under his/her grace. There is a very advance knowledge in the Vedic tradition about how to invoke a specific Deity or one of the manifestations or powers of God trough the proper ritual and mantras. y this act, the Deity representing the planet is invoked, invited to come and is served by offerings of a special seat, foods, flowers, clothing, water, milk, ornaments, jewels, light, fire, incense, and other sacred objects. There are specific powerful mantras in the form of Vedic hymns for invoking those energies.

The sincerity of the worshipper in wanting to purify his mind and ego is very important. The Puja is a simpler ritual that any person with a little training and sincere intention can do, whereas the Yagyas are more sophisticated and elaborate rituals which should be conducted by a traditional Vedic priest, who does the offerings and rituals in the name of the worshipper is important to say that from the Yogic point of view, the highest for of worship is when the intention is to surrender totally to God’s will, without expecting anything. In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna says that the worship of gods with the sole purpose to fulfill the material personal desires is done by people of “small intelligence”. The highest devotee prays: “Thy will be done, my lord”, please give me that which is for my highest good and not just what my ignorant mind wants!
