How to read a HOROSCOPE on the Indian system:

A horoscope is a detailed layout of the zodiac and planets ( recognized by the ancient Indians influencing the earth) at the time of birth.

It would be equivalent to a picture taken at a particular time capturing the state of heavenly bodies in the sky. There are basically two aspects to a horoscope:

1. CONSTRUCTION OF A HOROSCOPE - This is the scientific or the mathematical aspect. Since the principles are documented, and follow the principles of ASTRONOMY, a horoscope cast correctly will be identical with that cast by any other person or computer provided there are no calculation errors. This part of Astrology is a well -developed science not disputable by any segment of the intellectual population.
2. INTERPRETING A HOROSCOPE - This aspect takes up your understanding, analytical, memory as well as intuitive skills in equal measure. Reading a horoscope is an art and so experience as well as natural talent make a good astrologer.

CONSTRUCTION OF A HOROSCOPE - Basic Birth Chart: Horoscope

A S C: Ascendant or the sign rising on the eastern horizon at the time of birth.

Following numbers have been allotted to various signs:

Mesha (Aries) - 1

Vrishabha (Taurus) - 2

Mithuna (Gemini) - 3

Kataka (Cancer) - 4

Simha (Leo) - 5

Kanya (Virgo) - 6

Tula (Libra) - 7

Vrishchika (Scorpio) - 8

Dhanus (Sagittarius) - 9

Makara (Capricorn) - 10

Kumbha (Aquarius) - 11

Meena (Pisces) - 12

So now for illustration if Sinha (Leo) was rising at the time of birth on the eastern horizon the HOROSCOPE will read like the following chart:

So for clarification now:

1. Simha (Leo) is in the 1st house
2. Kanya (Virgo) is in the 2nd house
3. Tula (Libra) is in the 3rd house
4. Vrishchika (Scorpio) is in the 4th house
5. Dhanus (Sagittarius) is in the 5th house
6. Makara (Capricon) is in the 6th house
7. Kumbha (Aquarius) is in the 7th house
8. Meena (Pisces) is in the 8th house
9. Mesha (Aries) is in the 9th house
10. Vrishabha (Taurus) is in the 10th house
11. Mithuna (Gemini) is in the 11th house
12. Kataka (Cancer) is in the 12th house

Further now as per the example if the planets are placed in the following signs at the time of birth :

1. Sun - Mesha (Aries)
2. Moon- Makara (Capricorn)
3. Mercury- Vrishabha (Taurus)
4. Mars- Kanya (Virgo)
5. Jupiter- Kumbha (Aquarius)
6. Saturn- Vrishabha (Taurus)
7. Venus- Mesha (Aries)
8. Rahu- Mithuna (Gemini)
9. Ketu- Dhanus (Sagittarius)

Then the final birth chart would look like this :

SO NOW THE HOROSCOPE CAST WOULD BE AS FOLLOWS :

1. ASC: Leo
2. Sun: Ninth house
3. Moon: Sixth house
4. Mercury: Tenth house
5. Mars: Second house
6. Jupiter: Seventh house
7. Saturn: Tenth house
8. Venus: Ninth house
9. Rahu: Eleventh house
10. Ketu: Fifth house

INTERPRETATION OF A HOROSCOPE:

2. RESULT OF VARIOUS PLANETS IN EACH SIGN:
   1. Sun in various signs.
   2. Moon in various signs.
   3. Mercury in various signs.
   4. Mars in various signs.
   5. Venus in various signs.
   6. Jupiter in various signs.
   7. Saturn in various signs.
3. RESULT OF VARIOUS PLANETS IN EACH HOUSE:
   1. Sun in various houses.
   2. Moon in various houses.
   3. Venus in various houses.
   4. Mercury in various houses.

   6. Jupiter in various houses.
   7. Saturn in various houses.

   9. Ketu in various houses.
