Saturns Sadhe Sati- The very term strikes terror and extreme apprehension in the mind of the listener.Several astrologers use it as an infallible weapon to demoralise an individual.

What is Saadhe-Saati? It is a term used by astrologers to point out the seven-and-half year period when transiting Saturn is in the 12th house from one’s radical Moon for two and a half-years, on the radical Moon for two and a half-years totalling seven and a half-years. For instance, if someone’s Moon is in Tula (Libra) his saadhe-saati began when Saturn entered Kanya in 1980 and ended in the middle of December 1987 when Saturn entered Dhanus. Thus when Saturn moved out of Scorpio the Saadhe-Saati of natives with their Moon in Tula ended. But when Saturn entered Dhanu the first phase of two and a half-years of Saadhe-Saati of people with their Moon in Dhanu ended leaving five-years, while those with their Moon in maker entered their Saadhe-Saati. Saturn in astrology represents a hard taskmaster and the Moon mind, manas, Saturn’s transit around one’s Moon must create stresses and strains, a feeling of agony and joy depression and ecstasy. There are certain other position form the natal Moon where too Saturn creates similar stresses. For example, when Saturn in transit is in the 4th house from one’s Moon and in the 8th. But since we are discussing Saadhe-Saati it is necessary to keep overselves confined to Saadhe-Saati only. The most pertinent question that must be answered is when should Saadhe-Saati be said to have begun and when should it be said that it has reached its terminal point. Here the observation of a Maharashtrian astrologer, the late Shri Katwe, are worth keeping in mind. Somewhere Shri. Katwe has written that when Saturn is within fourty-five degree from one’s Moon, Saadhe-Saati should be said to have genion and when Saturn has crossed 45º after leaving the Moon it should be said to have ended. For example, the degree of the Moon of Mrs. Indira Gandhi is five in Makara. In this case her Saadhe-saati should be said to have begun when Saturn reached 20º in Vrischika and when Saturn reached 20º in Kumbha it should be said to have ended. If the method of shri Katwe is followed, the three phases of Saadhe-Saati should further be divided thus: a . When Saturn has traversed 30º from behind the Moon and is within 15º of the natal Moon it should be treated as the phase of Saadhe-Saati. When transiting Saturn is within 15º after transiting over the natal Moon and when he has reached 15º after transiting over the Moon the second phase should be said to have ended. Inevitably it follows that when Saturn in transit is more than 45º away from one’s Moon then only Saadhe-Saati ends. A pertinent question that must be posed and an answer sought is-whether Saadhe-Saati is good or evil. Another question arising out of the answer to the first question is that if it is good, how good and if it is evil, how evil. Why this question must be posed and an answer it to it sought is that astrologers are in the habit of frightening their consultors when their Saadhe-Saati begins. First before drawing any conclusion let both side of Saadhe-Saati be seen, the positive side and negative. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had his Moon in Karka. When in 1947 Saturn transited into Karka, Pandit Nehru became the first Prime Minister of Independent India. Saadhe-Saati proved lucky for pandit Nehru. b. Smt. Indira Gandhi had her Moon in Makar, in January 1966 when Saturn entered Kumbha and she was running her third phase of Saadhe-Saati, she became India’s Prime Minister. a. Shri Charan Singh had his Moon in Kanya and he became the Prime Minister of India when his Saadhe-Saati began in 1979. b. In the case of Morarji all three Saadhe-Saati proved extraordinary. In this first Saadhe-Saati he became a Government servant. In his second Saadhe-Saati he became a Minister in the cabinet in Maharashtra, and very soon after, chief-Minister. In his Third Saadhe-Saati he became the Chief-Minister. In his third Saadhe-Saati he became the Prime-Minister of India. Consideration of transit is an important part of astrology. It is also clear from the importance of the analysis of the “Varsha Phala” (solar return chart or annual chart). Astrologers have described in great detail the role of Saturn in this context. If Saturn is strong, it provides residential comfort to the individual. He gets to lead people of lower class. But a weak Saturn indicate, physical lethargy and thinness, poverty, rumours and sickness.
