The Bobgans examine personality types and tests from a bibilcal, historical, and research basis and answer such questions as: How is astrology connected to the four temperaments and how are both connected to personality types and tests? Can knowing temperament and personality types foster Christian love and maturity? Why are the four temperaments so popular among Christians today? Are there any biblically or scientifically established temperament or personality types? Are personality inventories and tests valid ways of finding out about people?

The four temperaments theory is an ancient system devised for understanding human nature and thereby improving the human condition. The theory divides people according to various personality characteristics that appear to make up their basic temperament. Some people attempt to distinguish between a person’s temperament and his personality by saying that temperament traits are inborn while personality traits are the result of nature and nurture. However, the distinction is not always possible or clear. The four temperament categories are Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholy, and Phlegmatic. Each category or type is defined by a list of descriptive terms.

  1. While the LaHayes may have used the four temperaments to promote understanding of other personalities and have made income from promoting their publications. Now, it appears that the Bobgans are making a living by promoting publications designed to debunk or challenge the LeHayes' temperament concepts as "pop-psychology". The contentition that the use of Greek terminology is bogus would apply to any scientist who uses phrases or terms that have Greek or Latin roots, which is like saying NASA is using bogus science in their space program by naming space vehicles after Greek and Roman Gods. Further, the contention that the LeHayes promote astrology in their books is utterly false and misleading, as astrology is not part of the LaHaye temperament personality classification. Finally, large corporations such as Xerox (CSS - Customer Satisfaction Skills) and Kodak (Niles and Ingram Training) have used the same personality so called"pop psychology" in training field representatives to deal with their clients, with great success.
